I did not know this existed until today - helping a friend pick out an SUV in the Macan/XC60/ CX5 class (hint: the answer is CPO Macan) . Kia’s design studio has, until now, done a good job. Unless I need new glasses, isn’t this thing blazingly ugly?

It’s really more of a truck-sized SUV.

Ugly trucks are on trend in the design world currently, so I think the Telluride fits right in.

It wants badly to be a new Disco, and that’s like badly wanting to be the new Gallagher.

But didn’t you see their terrible Super Bowl commercial:

It’s a full-sized SUV unlike those mid-sized guys though, as far as I know.

No worse than the Atlas, which is a similarly large abomination from a company that designs otherwise nice looking vehicles.

I think an industry-wide trend is afoot...

While that photo does it no justice, I kinda like it. I agree, it’s trying to be the new Disco since LR made the Disco5 so dumb looking.

But the Hyundai is better:

This is a different size class than the Macan and CX5, it has three full rows, so it’s more in line with the CX5, or Volvo XC90. Porsche doesn't have a three-row crossover.

And I actually- mostly - like the Telluride's looks, although I'm not a huge fan of the rear end. It certainly looks, to me, nicer than the Pilot or Highlander it's competing with.

I have to wholeheartedly disagree. Love this thing. And if you’re looking at XC60s, this truck looks similar enough from the outside. Closer to the XC90, though. And the interior is beautiful. Definitely on my short list for my wife's next SUV.

I find the Atlas less offensive, but it seems to me that pricing an Audi in that class right would result in more sales.

That I did not see - our national nightmare made me take a year off the NFL. Not a bad decision, as the Jets won 4 games. And that commercial is awful. Oy ...

Put a normal grill on it, and it’s marginally better. IMHO.

If someone can afford a macan then it's a no brainer. But if they considered cx-5, then may be should have had rdx in the choices as well. I think it a good balance of everything (reliability, handling, interior and price). Telluride is different suv though body on frame 8 seater compared to 5 seater cuv.

She was never on the Tellu-ride (get it?) - that was just a diversion I took when I saw how awful it was. I had suggested RDX, but then we both agreed that the dash layout was awful. And she may do Macan CPO, although they do hold their value. It’s a sweet little vehicle, and I hope to Turo one some day.

When compared to the vast majority of MY 2019 automobiles, it’s really not that egregious.

I like it. It’s pretty understated in person and it makes the Palisade look ugly and the Highlander look dull. It’s not as well-styled as the CX-9 but it is noticeably larger.

Couple corrections here - it's not BoF; it uses a modified Sorento platform, which is unibody. It is also either FWD or AWD. And, I know I've read that the Telluride will have eight seats, but I haven't seen a single picture of it with more than seven. Maybe Kia is only advertising the more expensive Prestige trim?

That is also fair - hated the Bentayga in photos, but then I saw one parked near our building, and I rather liked it.

Eh, I’m the first to admit I have some strange opinions on styling. Hated the first gen MB CLS, second better, everyone tells me 2nd is worse. Buddy works for FCA, and we almost came to blows about the first gen Chrysler 300 (awful, has gotten better). Loved the Dodge wagon of the era (was it called Charger) and everyone thought I was nuts. I could go on and on and on ... oh, and I think the S Class has gotten progressively worse since the W116. And don’t get me started on the G Wagen.
